Description

A compact USBL system designed for installation both on a shore-based or surface reference station and directly on an underwater vehicle. The symmetrical architecture allows both units to mutually determine their relative bearing, providing an additional navigation channel – acoustic heading – which improves navigation stability and overall accuracy.

The system supports bidirectional acoustic data transmission at rates of up to 170 bit/s, with an address space for up to 64 devices, and reliable operation at ranges of up to 1 km. The operating acoustic frequency band of 26…34 kHz can be used as a whole or divided into sub-bands, enabling the simultaneous operation of multiple devices within the same water area.

* Angular resolution does not represent absolute positioning accuracy. Final accuracy depends on multiple factors, including acoustic propagation conditions, installation geometry, baseline length, synchronization quality, noise level, multipath effects, platform dynamics, and environmental parameters such as temperature, salinity, and water column stratification.
